Club of Hampton Honors Old Members and Inducts New Members

The Kiwanis Club of Hampton
presented George F. Hixon Fellowships to outgoing Michael
Behan and President Vivikka A. DeLoach Behan

was recognized for her outstanding work as President
while
Mike Behan, son of Neal Behan, for his many hours
of assistance in fundraising activities. Dorothy Silverthorn,
a Past President, received the Capital District Foundation
Founders Society Award in recognition for many years
service as the Chairperson of the Service Leadership
Programs Committee. Also a Past President, Jim Meadows
received the Kiwanian of the Year Plaque (right) from
Pres. Vivikka DeLoach. In addition to Perfect Attendance
recognition to 16 members
ranging
from three to Solon Paul's forty-one years several
other awards were made. Legion of Honors, recognizing
years in Kiwanis, were presented to Hurley Shaw, 55years;
Gary Powell, 30 years; Jim Meadows and Stan Polonsky
25years each.
Newly installed President, Dr. Alvin Bryant, a retired US Army Major General, kicked off his administrative year by sponsoring three new members, all of whom were inducted during November. They include his wife, Sandra, Linda Lucas, a local realtor and Dr. Lois Miller, a retired educator from Hampton University. Dr Bryant, in setting the standard, challenged each member to bring in at least one new member.
